The Crown Inn

crowntree
A few years ago, the Crown Inn made the news through becoming the first parish council owned public house in Herefordshire.  It is now run as a tenanted free house offering tradition country inn style food and drink. It is also a real ale pub.
At its core, the Crown is a half-timbered building dating from the 17th century. Much modified during its history it still retains many interesting features of the original coaching inn. From the front of the inn there is picturesque view of the village green and the traditional half-timbered black and white cottages that surround it. The Crown has always provided a warm welcome to visitors who are exploring Dilwyn as part of the
Black and White Trail of these pretty half-timbered cottages that are so typical of north Herefordshire's villages.
For over 300 years the Crown has provided an important facility for Dilwyn's community and this will continue with the latest tenants. In recent years the Crown has been the home of darts teams, quiz teams, pool team, Royal British Legion and cribbage team, amongst others. It has also supported and hosted well attended local community events. In return the community has always been highly supportive of the Crown and its own events.
